IRON FEST '10
SATURDAY - September 4, 2010
Q: I am a blacksmith and am interested in demonstrating &/or teaching at PVCC. Who do I contact?
A: Well, even though this has absolutely nothing to do with the Iron Fest, I'm happy to answer. You should contact the Head of the Blacksmithing Department, Dick Sargent, at the studio (973-948-2393), leave a message for him via the main office (973-948-5200), or email him at blacksmithing@petersvalley.org.
Q: I have art, equipment and/or supplies I would like to donate to Peters Valley via this event's auction. Who should I contact to drop it off, or in the case of larger equipment (such as a power hammer or lathe) make arrangements to have it picked up?
A: Just call the main office with the information about your donation and someone will contact you with details.
973-948-5200
Q: There will be blacksmiths demonstrating all day. Is it possible for me to get some time in at one of your forges, or try what the demonstrators are showing?
A: No. Sorry, the blacksmith studio is closed for workshops and teaching for the season. If you are interested in coming to the Peters Valley Blacksmith Studio for a workshop, we resume again in May 2011. The 2011 Course Selections will be available online for previewing (and purchasing as a member) in December.
Q: Will there be more than one pig... and how long does it last?
A: One pig is roasted. The process is begun the evening prior to the event as it takes approximately 14 hours to cook. One pig feed up to 50 people in reasonable portions. We estimate the pig to be ready to eat mid-day (about 1pm). There is plenty of other food including hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, etc... so noone will go hungry.
Q: My child is turning 12 prior to the Iron Fest on September 4th. Will I need to purchase a ticket for him/her?
A: No, children aged 12, and children under 12, are FREE. If your child were to have become 13 prior to September 4th, you will need to purchase a ticket for him/her.
Q: Will alcohol (beer/wine) be served, or available for purchase at this event?
A: NO. If you are interested in consuming alcoholic beverages, you may BYOB (Bring your own bottle). Peters Valley and the NPS will not be held responsible for any person consuming alcohol and then driving. Please....NEVER drink & drive.
This event will be taking place at the Blacksmith Studio at Peters Valley Craft Center on
