TUITION SCHOLARSHIP FOR ART TEACHERS
TO ATTEND A PETERS VALLEY SUMMER 2011 WORKSHOP
DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2011
Peters Valley will offer tuition scholarships to four art teachers.
One scholarship will be awarded in
each of the following four categories:
- Elementary
- Middle (Jr. High)
- High
- "Other" 9which may
include special art programs).
These four teachers will receive 50% off of workshop tuition for a workshop
of their choice during their summer workshop.
Recipients will be responsible for all other associated
costs such as the balance of tuition, material fees and room and board if needed.
Peters Valley
offers this opportunity in an effort to encourage art teachers to learn new skills or enhance existing
ones.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a panel of Peters Valley staff. The panel will review the
applications and select those that reflect the strongest need and desire to further develop their skills
and understanding of craft media. The panel will take into consideration the applicant's experience
and the contents of the letter of intent.
While we feel it is important that the applicant show active
involvement in their field outside the classroom, we also feel that a strong desire to enhance their
school program and learn by doing is equally important.
It is our hope that by taking a workshop at
Peters Valley the recipients will be inspired to grow creatively in their personal work and pass information
along to their students.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Fill out the application form (will be available January 1, 2011).
- Include a one-page letter of intent stating why you would like to study at Peters
Valley and how you would use your new skills to further develop your school
program.
- Include any visual documentation you wish such as slides of your work, papers you
have written, award letters you have received, etc. For return of this material you
must include a self addressed envelope with the proper amount of postage. DO NOT e-mail
images to us.
- Return all of the above by April 1, 2011 to:

Applications will be reviewed in April 2011 and notification will be sent to all
applicants by April 30, 2011.
Scholarship winners will be sent a 2011 Peters Valley
workshop brochure with instructions for registering for the workshop of their choice.
It will be very important for the scholarship recipients to register as soon as possible
since workshops fill quickly.
