Adam Welch is an artist living in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently the Assistant Director of Greenwich House Pottery in Manhattan. His work is exhibited throughout the United States. Currently he is publishing scholarly essays and reviews in national and international journals.

Harvey Sadow is the Director of the Paducah School of Art and has taught workshops across the US, Asia and Australia. His artwork is represented in numerous major collections worldwide including The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Everson Museum, The International Museum of Ceramic Art and the White House Collection of American Crafts.

Josh DeWeese is a ceramic artist and educator. He currently teaches ceramics at Montana State University in Bozeman, where he and his wife Rosalie Wynkoop have recently built a home and studio. DeWeese served as Resident Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana from 1992-2006.  He holds an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. DeWeese has exhibited and taught workshops internationally and his work is included in numerous public and private collections.

Susan Harris is Professor of Art & Design at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT. Her work can be seen in numerous textbooks and has appeared in national and international exhibitions. She was elected NCECA Fellow of the Council in 1999.

Anat Shiftan has worked at Pewabic Pottery since receiving her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art & Design. She has taught at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and since 2003 teaches at SUNY New Paltz. Her interests include a wide variety of ceramic processes and traditions as well as printmaking and digital imaging.

Kathryn Finnerty is a studio potter living and working in Pleasant Hill, OR. Her pottery is ornately decorated with surface patterns and images that draw on her love of the historical traditions of European decorative ceramics. She received her BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and her MFA from Louisiana State University. Kathryn’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally as well as published in a number of books and magazines.

Jimmy Clark is Executive Director of Peters Valley. Previously he was director of the Clay Studio in Philadelphia for over 16 years. He is a widely recognized ceramic artist and has written, and been featured in numerous articles in “Ceramics Monthly”, “Studio Potter”, and “American Craft” as well as many publications abroad. He is good friends with Paulus Berensohn, author of “Finding One’s Way with Clay” the defining work on pinch potting and wrote the forward for the 25th anniversary republication of the book.

A full time potter for 30 years, Phil Rogers lives and works in Mid Wales. In 2002 A&C Black published Salt Glazing, a detailed overview on salting practices and an in depth look at contemporary approaches. He recently built a three chamber kiln that incorporates a salt chamber. Phil has written two other books: Ash Glazes and Throwing Pots both of which are still available. He has had 46 one man shows spread throughout the world and his work is held in more than 40 museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Museum of Modern Ceramics in Mashiko, Japan and the Museum of Art in Mino, Japan.

Jim Chaney has worked with clay in venues ranging from the IWCAT program in Tokoname, Japan to the Kohler Corporation in Wisconsin. His abstract, slip-cast, anagama-fired, “Sake Forms” have recently been exhibited in “Pennsylvania Craft”, State Museum of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, “Mastery in Clay”, The Clay Studio, Philadelphia and “Wood and Ash”, 2008 NCECA, Pittsburgh. Having earned an MFA from Kent State University in 1975, he has been developing the Ceramics Program at Kutztown University for the past 30 years.

Michael Flynn studied painting, ceramics and sculpture at Birmingham, Worcester and Cardiff College of Art in the United Kingdom. His work is included in such collections as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Virginia Museum of Art in Richmond. He has taught at the Royal College of Art & Design, S’Hertogogenbosch in the Netherlands, New York University, College of Art in Oslo, Institute for Fine Art Ceramics, and Hohrgrenzhausen in Denmark. Michael has also taught modeling and drawing from life at colleges/universities throughout Britain and Europe.

Bruce Dehnert, ceramics Department Head at Peters Valley, has taught at Hunter College, Parsons School of Design, the School of Art in New Zealand, Universiti Malaysia on the Island of Borneo and the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. His work is exhibited internationally and is included in numerous collections such as The White House Collection.

He received his degree in Ceramics from Kunsthogskolen in Norway and has worked internationally as an artist educator since 1984. He has been professor of ceramics at HDK in Gothenburg and held teaching fellowships and organized workshops at colleges and universities in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and most recently at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China.

Lynn Munns is the chairman of the Division of Fine Arts at Casper College in Wyoming. He is a full-time potter, committee member of the NEA and a recipient of the Rosenthal Award. His work is exhibited extensively throughout the United States.

Ayumi Horie works full-time as a studio potter in upstate NY, and in addition teaches workshops nationally and internationally. She is on the board of the Archie Bray Foundation in Montana. Ayumi draws inspiration for her work from Japanese and American fold traditions.

Linda Shusterman, artist and teacher, has been working in clay since 1972. Most recently her work in porcelain is fired in a Norborigama kiln using wood and salt. Her work has been exhibited nationally and has been published in “Ceramics Monthly” and “Ceramic Art & Perception” magazines. She continues to teach at the Community College of Philadelphia and Gloucester County College in New Jersey.
